Vedanta Alumina Ltd

Maheswar Pattnaik's place is over at Jaleswar Mandir Para in Bhawanipatna. It is a well-known part of the Kalahandi district, right near the old temple. We use this spot as a local office for Vedanta Alumina Ltd. The building is tucked away in a narrow street that can be hard to navigate if you have a big car. It is a traditional style house, and we have set up our desks in the front rooms. You can often hear the sounds from the temple throughout the day, which gives the place a very specific feel. We don't have a lot of modern office equipment. It is mostly just paper files, a couple of old computers, and a lot of pens. We spend a lot of time talking to local people and coordinating supplies. It is a slow-paced kind of place compared to the big cities. Sometimes we sit on the porch to discuss the day's work when it gets too hot inside. The walls are thick, which helps keep it a bit cooler, but the humidity is still a challenge. We are just a small part of the bigger company, focusing on our specific tasks here in Orissa. We don't have a receptionist or any fancy signs out front. People just know to come here if they need to talk to us about the project. It is a quiet, steady way to work, and we have grown fond of the neighborhood over the years.
