Vedanta Alumina Limited

Our mechanical department is located right on the site in Lanjigarh. If you come looking for us, you will probably find us covered in a bit of dust or grease. That is just the nature of working with alumina plants in this part of Orissa. The weather gets incredibly hot in the summer months, and the workshop can feel like an oven sometimes. We have a lot of tools and heavy parts lying around the floor. It might look like a mess to someone walking in for the first time, but we know exactly where every wrench and bolt is kept. The guys here have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just show up, look at what needs fixing, and get to it. The machinery is loud, and you have to shout to be heard most of the day. We don't have a lot of office space, just a small corner with a couple of chairs and a table for the logs. Lunch is usually eaten quick so we can get back to the floor. There is always something that needs attention, whether it is a conveyor belt or a motor acting up. We don't do much in the way of fancy talk. We just focus on keeping the plant moving. It is hard work, but it is what we know. The road out here is rough, but we like it fine.
