Our group, Swavalambana Sheep And Wool Farmersproducer Company Limited, is located in Karjagi, which is in the Afzalpur area of Gulbarga. We are right at 1-171. This isn't a city office with glass walls. It's a place for farmers. We spend a lot of time talking about sheep and how the wool is coming along. In Gulbarga, the weather can be quite tough, but we are used to it. Our setup is very basic because we prefer to put our energy into the actual work with the animals. We help each other out with the farming side of things. It's a producer company, so it’s really about the people who are out there in the fields. We meet up here to discuss the prices of wool or how the sheep are doing this season. It's a lot of talk about feed and shearing schedules. We don't have any marketing experts or polished brochures. Everything is written down in notebooks and shared among the members. It's a community effort more than a business in the traditional sense. We just want to make sure the sheep farmers in our area can get by. It’s honest work and we've been doing it this way for a long time. There are no fancy titles here, just people who know about sheep and wool trying to make things work in the village. It is a slow process but we keep going.
