Our shop is right in the middle of the 68 Super market area here in Gulbarga. It’s always noisy outside with the traffic and people shouting, but that’s just how Kalaburagi is. We’ve got sarees stacked up pretty high because the space isn't that big. Usually, one of us is busy folding things back up after someone has looked through twenty different colors. It takes a lot of time to keep the pleats looking right. We have been in this part of Karnataka for a long time now. The pin code is 585101 if you are trying to mail something or find us on a map. Most of the people who come in are from the neighborhood or just passing through the market for their weekly shopping. We don't have any fancy chairs or big lights, just the regular tubes on the ceiling and some stools for when your feet get tired. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the door to get some light from the street. It’s a simple way to run a business. We mostly talk about the weather or the price of things while we work. The shelves are always full of different fabrics. It gets dusty because of the main road, so cleaning is a never-ending job for us every single morning before we can even think about selling anything.
