Sangmashwer Clinic

Humnabad is where we are based, and the clinic is a very simple operation. We don't have a fancy street name, just our own spot in the town that everyone knows. It’s a small building with a tin roof in one part and a concrete ceiling in the other. Inside, there are just a few benches for people to wait on while they watch the street outside. Most of the people who come to see us are from the surrounding villages. They walk in with their kids or their elderly parents. The clinic doesn't have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that whirl around quite fast. We have a wooden cabinet where we keep all the medicines and some basic tools for checkups. The floor is just plain cement, which is easy to sweep out at the end of the day. Life here is slow, and we often sit and chat with the patients about the crops or the weather while we work. It’s not the kind of place where you need an appointment weeks in advance. You just show up and wait your turn. Sometimes a goat or a dog wanders near the door, and we have to shoo them away. It’s a very local way of doing things, and it has worked for us for a long time. We don't have any big signs, just the word of mouth from the people in Humnabad.
