B K Pedduswamy & Co operates out of Door No 101 in the APMC Yard. We share some space with Alpito Trading Co as well. If you have ever been to an APMC yard, you know it is a place of constant movement and loud voices. It is where the real trade happens. We spend our mornings dealing with the arrivals and our afternoons sorting out the logistics of where everything needs to go. It is a lot of shouting and quick decisions. The office is small and usually crowded with sacks or samples of whatever we are trading that day. We have been in this yard for years and know all the other traders and the porters. It is a hard life in some ways because you are always on your feet and the noise never really stops. But there is an energy to the yard that you do not find anywhere else. We do not have a fancy mission statement or corporate goals. We just want to get the day's work done and make sure the accounts are settled correctly. Sometimes the market is good and sometimes it is not, but we stay through it all. It is just a business built on being present every day and knowing the market inside and out. That is all there is to it.
