I am located over at the finance department within Alstom Projects India Ltd in Shahabad. Gulbarga is a warm place, and the industrial side of things keeps everyone on their toes. The commute to Shahabad is something I’ve gotten used to over the years. My desk is usually covered in folders and ledgers. I don’t use any complicated systems if a simple pen and paper work just as well. People stop by when they have questions about their accounts or payments. I try to be helpful without making things more difficult than they need to be. The building is quite old and has that typical office smell. It gets noisy sometimes with the factory nearby, but you stop noticing after a few weeks. I’m just a regular person trying to keep the books balanced and the records straight. There’s no big mystery to it. We follow the rules and make sure the entries are correct. It’s a steady rhythm of work. Most days go by pretty fast because there is always a ledger to check or a report to finish. I try to stay focused when it is hot outside.
