Working down by the Sea Port in Kakinada means you always have the salt in the air. Our spot is right there where the ships come in. It’s a massive area, and honestly, it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren’t used to the scale of the maritime world. We spend our days dealing with the various needs of the port and the vessels that dock here. It’s a lot of outdoors work, so we are at the mercy of the weather. When the sun is out, it gets incredibly hot on the docks, and during the monsoon, everything is just damp and gray. But there is something about the port life that gets into your blood. We see people from all over coming through. It’s not a quiet office job. There are cranes moving, trucks backing up, and the constant sound of the water against the piers. We’ve been part of the Kakinada scene for some time now, just doing our part in the bigger picture of the shipping industry. It’s physical, it’s messy sometimes, and the hours can be long depending on the tide or the ship schedules. We don't have much time for sitting around. Usually, there is a list of things to get through before the next shift starts. We just focus on getting the daily tasks done so the ships can keep moving. It’s basic, honest work in a very big environment that never stops.
