Lakshmi Automotives India Pvt. Ltd. is located over at Plot No 29-30 in Adavnagar. We deal with Ashok Leyland trucks, so there are always these massive vehicles and bare chassis parked around the lot. The ground is mostly hard-packed dirt and gravel, and you have to watch where you step because there might be a bit of oil or a stray bolt lying around. Karpuwaramsarpavaram is the general area, and it’s a bit of a hub for this kind of heavy work. The main sheds are large and tall to fit the vehicles, and the sound of air wrenches and heavy engines idling is what we hear all day. Our crew wears heavy boots and clothes that usually end up with grease stains by noon. It’s a tough environment but there is a rhythm to it that we all understand. There is a small office area near the front gate of Adavnagar where the paperwork is handled, but most of the real action happens out in the bays. We have stacks of spare parts and tires piled up in the corners. It gets very bright out in the open sun, so we try to do the heaviest lifting inside the shade of the structures.
