Lakshmi Ganapathi General Stores

You can find our general store at 5-865, right on the way between Rajamundry and Tadepalligudem. It is a small shop, but we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. We have bags of rice, soaps, some plastic buckets, and snacks for the kids. The building is an old one, and the paint is peeling a bit on the outside. We have a small wooden counter where I sit for most of the day. The road outside can get very busy with buses and lorries, so it gets quite loud sometimes. We don't have any employees, just family members taking turns to sit at the shop. We know most of the people who live around here. They come in for a single matchbox or a whole month of groceries. We write down the accounts in a thick notebook. There isn't any computer here. If the light goes out, we use a torch or a candle. It is just a simple way to make a living. We aren't looking to expand or anything, just keeping the shelves stocked and the customers happy with what we have on hand today. It’s a quiet existence but we are satisfied with how things are going here.
