Khana Chaoba Farmer Producer Company is based right in the middle of things at the Kakching Super Market. You can find us at Kakching Bazar-I in the Kakching district. M Santosh is the one who handles a lot of the coordination for us there. Being in the market means we see a lot of people every day. It’s always loud and busy with folks buying and selling all sorts of things. We aren't tucked away in some quiet office building. Instead, we are right where the action is. Most of us are farmers from the surrounding district who realized we could do better if we pooled our resources. It’s a lot of talk and a lot of hands-on work. We handle the crops and try to get a fair shake for everyone in our group. M Santosh stays busy keeping the books and talking to the people who come by the market stalls. It’s a very practical way to run things. We don't use any fancy language to describe ourselves. We are just people who know the soil and know how to sell what we grow. The market is the heart of the community here, so it made sense for us to set up there. It gets dusty and hot in the summer, but we don't mind much. It’s just how life is when you work for yourself and your neighbors. We just focus on getting the daily tasks finished.
