Shiva Rice & General Mills

We are located on Jind Road, not too far from Sibia Hospital. It’s a good landmark to tell people when they are trying to find Shiva Rice & General Mills for the first time. Our name says 'General Mills' because we don't just stick to one thing; we handle whatever grain is in season. It makes the work a bit more interesting because the machinery needs to be adjusted depending on what we are processing. The mill is a large, airy building, but it still gets very dusty and loud when we are in full swing. We have a yard out front where the tractors park, and it’s usually a bit of a mess with tire tracks and spilled grain. That’s just the nature of the business. We aren't worried about looking perfect. The people who work here are like family; we’ve been through many harvest seasons together. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers to work near the loaders. There is no corporate structure here. If there is a problem, we just stand around and talk it out until it’s fixed. We do our work, keep our equipment running, and try to make sure we stay on schedule. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We are just a regular part of the Jind Road community, doing what we've always done.
