Jai Jawala Brick Kiln

Jai Jawala Brick Kiln operates out of Sco 7 and 8 on Karnal Road. We’re right across from the Jaat School Ground, so we hear the kids playing and the whistles during sports practice quite often. It’s a dusty place to work, but that’s the nature of the brick business. The yard is usually full of red stacks waiting to be picked up. Karnal Road stays busy with trucks and cars, so there’s always a layer of grit on everything in the office. We’ve got a small team here, and most of us have been around the kiln for years. We know the smell of the fire and the sound the bricks make when they’re cooled just right. It’s a physical job, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We don't use much in the way of fancy machinery; a lot of it is still done by hand because that’s how we’ve always done it. People from the district come by because they know where we are, right there by the school ground. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. We just sit in the SCO units and handle the orders as they come in. If the sun is out and the kiln is hot, we’re happy. It’s just honest work, and we take it one stack at a time. The neighbors don't seem to mind the dust too much.
