Our factory is out in the GIDC Industrial Estate in Kadi, at plot 11/3. This whole area is packed with different industrial plants, and we have been part of it for a long time. We work with ceramics here. It is a process that involves a lot of heat and handling raw materials. The yard is usually full of crates and big bags of clay waiting to be used. It is definitely not a clean place to work. There is a fine white dust that seems to settle on everything, from the windows to our clothes. We have several kilns that stay hot for most of the day and night. The people working here have a lot of experience and they know the timing for the firing process just by looking at things. We don't have a big corporate office. Our workspace is just a small room at the front of the factory with a couple of chairs and a desk. We spend way more time out on the floor than we do sitting down. Trucks come in and out all day to load up the finished ceramic pieces. Sometimes the weather makes the clay act differently, especially when it gets really humid during the monsoon. We just keep the production line moving as best we can. It’s hard work, but we’ve been doing it a long time.
