Our place is out on the Chattral-kalol Highway, specifically at Plot No. 12/2. It’s right near Amol Decailite, which is a good landmark because otherwise, people miss the turn. Prikan Machinery is basically a big shed with some heavy stuff inside. The highway noise is constant, you get used to the sound of trucks roaring past all day and night. We have a lot of steel lying around. It’s heavy, dirty work and our clothes usually have oil stains by ten in the morning. We don't have a receptionist; if someone comes to the door, whoever is closest just goes to see what they want. The office is just a partitioned corner with a couple of chairs that have seen better days. It gets really dusty out here because of the road, so there's always a layer of grit on the desks. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and it gets pretty warm inside, but we have a few big fans that help a bit. We don't do much fancy talking here. If a machine needs fixing or a part needs making, we just do it. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We close up around six and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow. It’s a lot of work but it keeps us out of trouble.
