S.J.K Steel Plant

Our steel plant is located in the Kadapa district, specifically in the village of Porumanilla. If you are looking for S.J.K Steel Plant, you have to head toward the Muslim Fort street area. The sun in this part of Andhra Pradesh can be really harsh, so the plant gets quite hot by noon. We have been operating here under the guidance of D.Nyamathulla’s family for some time. It is a local operation through and through. The ground stays covered in iron dust and the air usually smells of metal. It isn't a clean or quiet place, but a steel plant never is. Many local men work here, and everyone knows each other’s families. Work starts early and ends only when the job is finally finished. There are no fancy signs or glass walls to be found. Everything is built from corrugated metal and heavy beams. We take our tea breaks under the shade of the few trees we have left nearby. It is hard work, and we don't try to pretend it is anything else. The community in Porumanilla is tight-knit, and we are just one small part of the local economy. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just focus on the steel and the daily grind of running the plant. It is a tough business, but it is what we know how to do here in Kadapa.
