Perfect Time

Perfect Time is located right on Chhathibari Ring Road, and if you know the area near Lakshmi Mandi, you know it gets pretty crowded. Our shop is right in the middle of all that noise. We’ve been here a while now, mostly dealing with watches and clocks. It’s a small space, and the walls are filled with the sound of ticking, which you eventually stop hearing after a few hours. People stop by when their watch battery dies or if the glass gets a crack. It’s not a complicated business, but it requires a lot of patience because the parts are so tiny. Sometimes I’m squinting through a magnifying glass for half the afternoon just to fix one tiny gear that got stuck. The traffic outside on the Ring Road never seems to stop, and we get a lot of dust coming in from the street, so we’re always wiping down the glass cases. It’s just me and the clocks mostly. We don’t have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s a local shop for local people who need to know what time it is. Some days are slow and I just sit here watching the cars go by, and other days everyone decides to bring in their broken watches at the exact same time. We just take them one by one and do what we can. It’s a simple life.
