Paharpur Cooling Towers Limited

We are right by the KLTPS power plant in Panandhro, which is way out in the Lakhpat Taluka of Kutch, Gujarat. It is a very specific kind of place to live and work. The landscape is flat and dusty, and you can see the big chimneys of the power station from almost anywhere in the colony. We live and work in these quarters, so there isn't much of a commute. The wind blows quite hard here, and it carries a bit of salt and dust from the surroundings. Most of the people living around us also work for the plant or the related companies. We spend our days tracking the maintenance and parts for the cooling towers. It’s a quiet life in the desert. We don't have fancy cafes or malls nearby. We rely on the local canteen and the small shops in the colony. The sun is very bright, so we usually keep the blinds drawn in the afternoon. It’s a simple, functional office meant for people who are actually on the ground doing the work. We’ve been out here in Kutch for a long time, and you get used to the isolation. It’s just about getting the job done and keeping the towers running. It's hard work but it's ours.
