Laxmii Fruit Exports Private Limited is situated at Godown No. 35 inside the APMC Sardar Patel Market Yard in Bhuj. Being in the market yard means our day starts much earlier than most people’s. By the time the sun is fully up, the yard is already full of noise, with farmers and traders shouting and trucks backing into tight spots. Our godown is a practical space built for utility, not for comfort. It stays relatively cool inside because of the high ceilings, but the Kachchh heat eventually finds its way in. There are crates stacked everywhere, and the smell of fresh produce is always in the air. We spend our time checking the quality of fruit coming in and making sure the packing is done right for export. It is a very physical environment. Our hands are often stained, and the floor is usually covered in bits of straw or cardboard. There is a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and handle the billing, but nobody sits there for very long. The atmosphere is hectic but organized in its own way. We work closely with the loaders and the drivers who take our goods across the region. It is a tough, dusty job in the heart of Bhuj’s trade hub, and we have been doing it this way for quite some time now.
