Kandla Port Trust

Our office is out in Shinay, which is a small place in the Gandhidham area of Kutch. Being part of the Kandla Port Trust means we are always dealing with the logistics of the coast and the desert. It’s a dry, dusty part of Gujarat, and the 370205 zip code covers a lot of ground where the ships come in. We spend our days handling the various tasks that come with running a port operation. It’s not a clean, air-conditioned office job for most of us. There’s a lot of mud and salt in the air, and you can always hear the sound of heavy trucks moving nearby. We don’t have a lot of decorations on the walls, just the necessary maps and port schedules. The staff here is mostly local folks who know the Kutch district inside and out. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just make sure the cargo moves and the port stays functional. It’s a lot of practical, hands-on work that doesn't leave much room for corporate polish. The weather can be really harsh, with the sun beating down on the docks, but we just get on with it. We aren't here to impress anyone with a mission statement. We’re here to do the job that needs doing every day at the port and then go home.
