K K Choudhary Hotel

Our place is right on National Highway 8 A here in Samkhiyali. It’s hard to miss because we are sitting across from the Power House and the Toll Tax Office is just a little ways down. Being on the highway means we see a lot of truck drivers and people traveling through Kutch all day and night. The road gets very dusty and the noise from the trucks never really stops. We opened this hotel because people needed a spot to pull over and rest their feet while getting a hot meal. It isn’t a fancy building with glass windows. It is more of a practical place where you can sit down and take a break from the heat. We usually have the TV on in the corner and there’s always someone coming in asking for directions or a quick glass of water. Our staff is mostly local guys who have been with us for a while. We don’t have a big menu with a hundred items. We just make what people usually want when they are tired of driving. Sometimes the power goes out, which is funny since the power house is right there, but we just manage with what we have. It’s a simple life out here on the highway. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just keep the lights on and the food ready for whoever stops by next.
