Shree Mahavir Marble

We are located over at Plot No. 98. It is a simple yard where we keep the marble stock. We have been here for a while and most people in the area know the spot. The place is mostly outdoors so we are at the mercy of the weather. When it rains, we have to cover some of the more delicate stones, and when it’s hot, the stone gets warm to the touch. We spend our time sorting through the slabs and showing people the different colors and grains available. It’s a lot of dust and noise when the saws are running to cut a piece down to size. We don't have a showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. You just walk through the rows of stone and pick what looks good. We use a lot of water for the cutting process so the ground is often a bit wet in places. The work is hard on the back but we are used to the lifting. We keep a small notebook to write down the measurements and the prices for the customers. It’s a straightforward way of doing things. We don't try to be something we are not. We just sell marble from this plot and help people load it into their trucks when they are ready. It’s a basic business run by people who know stone and don't mind getting their boots a little dirty while moving slabs around the yard for visitors.
