Omang Lifters

We are based right near the Custom House in New Kandla. Our shop is number nine, and it’s a pretty easy spot to find if you're familiar with the port area. Being in Kachchh, especially near the water, means everything gets a bit salty and rusty if you don't keep an eye on it. Omang Lifters deals with heavy equipment, so there's usually a lot of grease and metal around the place. It’s hard work and the days are long, especially when there's a ship in or a big job at the docks. The office is just a small room at the front where we keep the records. Most of the real work happens outside or at the client sites. We've got a crew that knows their way around machinery. It’s loud and it’s hot, but we’re used to it by now. Sometimes the dust from the port gets into everything, but you just wipe it off and keep going. We don't have a big corporate headquarters, just this shop where we coordinate the lifting gear and the guys. It’s a grit-under-your-fingernails kind of business. We’ve been here for years and the guys at the Custom House are all familiar with us. We just try to get the machines out on time and make sure they're running like they should. It’s not fancy, but it pays the bills and keeps us busy.
