Gujarat Tent House

You can find Gujarat Tent House at Plot No. 21, Ward 2-A in Adipur-Kachchh. We’ve been operating out of this same building for quite a long time. Basically, we provide tents and all the things that go with them for local functions and weddings. It’s the kind of business where you’re always watching the weather. If it gets too windy like it often does in Kachchh, we have to be extra careful with the fabric. Our warehouse is full of poles, colorful cloths, and stacks of chairs. It is usually a bit of a mess because we are always loading things into trucks or unloading them after a party. We don’t have any fancy brochures or anything. Usually, someone just comes by the shop and says they have a function coming up next month. We write it down in a big ledger we keep on the front counter. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting there near the door. The work is physically hard, especially in the heat, but it is nice to see the tents set up when they are finished. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing office work. We’d rather be outside moving the gear around. We are just local people helping out with local events in the ward. That’s how we’ve always done it and it seems to work out okay.
