Asha Kiran Mentally Chalanged School & Abhyam Boys Town

Our facility is based in Flat No 273 within the Indian Gas Building on Sagar Road. Being in Vanasthalipuram, we are right in the middle of a busy area, but inside the flat, we try to maintain a calm environment for the people we care for. We work with children who have mental challenges and we also run the Abhyam Boys Town. It is a lot of work and our days are usually very full. We do not have a huge campus with gardens; we just use the space we have in the building. Every day brings different challenges depending on the needs of the boys. We focus on basic life skills and making sure everyone is safe and looked after properly. It can be quite loud and hectic at times, but that is just part of the daily routine here. The people who work here are mostly from the local area and they have a lot of patience. We have been at this address for a long time, so most of our neighbors know who we are. It is not about having the latest technology or fancy furniture. It is just about providing a home and a place of learning for these young men. We handle all the chores and the daily activities ourselves. Sagar Road is always noisy outside, but we just keep our heads down and focus on the work inside the flat. It is a simple, practical setup for a very important job.
