Supervisor

Being located in the Indian Rayon Staff Quarters gives this place a different feel. It is Mr. V.R. Parmar’s spot, right opposite the Kardia Boarding in Veraval. Living and working in the same general area means we are always around. The quarter number is S/5-1. It is a compact space, but we make it work for all the supervisor tasks. There is always a sea breeze coming in from the coast, which helps with the Gujarat heat. Most of our neighbors work for the same company, so everyone knows everyone else’s business. We keep the registers on a metal rack near the window. The door is almost always open because people are constantly dropping by with questions or papers. It isn’t a corporate office with glass walls; it is more like a home office that grew too big. We have a small stove for making tea during the long shifts. The floor is tiled but shows its age. We spend a lot of time just talking through the schedules. Veraval is a busy town, and being in the quarters keeps us close to the action. It is honest work and doesn't require much more than a pen and a bit of patience. We just keep the records straight and ensure the day finishes without any major issues. It is a steady way to spend the weeks. Some days are longer than others, but we just keep at it.
