Professor Jay Talati

My place is a bit different because it is located right inside Jyoti Printing Press at Jyoti House in Junagadh. We are situated at Circle Chowk, directly opposite the State Bank of India. Because we share space with a printing press, you can often hear the machines running or smell the ink and paper throughout the day. It gives the place a very industrious and busy feel. It is not your typical quiet classroom environment, but it works for us. The building has been around for a long time and has a lot of character. I have a designated area where I meet with students and go over their lessons. There are stacks of paper and printed materials nearby, which is just part of being in this building. We have some old wooden tables and a few sturdy chairs. It is a very central spot in Junagadh, so it is easy for people to drop by after they finish their other errands at the bank or in the market nearby. I handle things myself mostly, so there is no big administrative team or reception area. You just walk in and look for me. It is a very direct way of doing things. I usually start teaching in the afternoons and go until late into the evening. It is a busy atmosphere with the printing work happening alongside the classes, but it feels like a real part of the local community and the daily grind.
