Tansu Khdas Bajranglal

Tansu Khdas Bajranglal is located on the A.T. Road in Jorhat. This is a very busy road with lots of cars and buses going past all the time. Our building is one of the older ones in the area. We’ve been here for many years, seeing the town change around us. Inside, it feels a bit like stepping back in time. We have heavy wooden counters and shelves that have seen better days. We handle a lot of different things, mostly serving the people who live around here or those passing through on the main road. The air is often filled with the smell of the tea gardens that Jorhat is famous for, especially when the breeze is right. We start our day early, around the time the first buses start honking. It’s a lot of manual work, moving stock and talking to the regulars who come in every week. We don't have any computers or fancy systems. We still use ledgers for many things. It’s just the way we’ve always done it. Sometimes the rain gets really heavy and we have to make sure the water doesn't come inside the shop. We have a small group of staff who are like family to us. We just keep the shop running and help the customers find what they need for their daily lives. It is a simple life on a busy road, but we are used to the noise and the constant movement of people. Every evening we shut the doors and prepare for another day of the same routine.
