Lakhibari Estate Private Limited

Our office is right on A.T. Road in the Tarajan area of Jorhat. It’s an old building that has seen many seasons. Lakhibari Estate Private Limited has its roots here in this part of Assam. If you know Jorhat, you know how busy A.T. Road can get with all the buses and tea trucks moving through. We sit in the office and listen to the traffic outside while we go over the accounts. The walls are thick and painted a light color that’s faded over the years. We deal with the management side of the estate from here. There are maps of the land pinned to the walls and old wooden cabinets full of files. It’s not a modern workspace with open plans and fancy coffee machines. We have a small kettle in the corner and some mismatched mugs. The floor tiles are worn down in the spots where people walk the most. It feels like a place where real work happens, not just a show for visitors. Some days it’s just one or two of us, and other times the place is full of people coming in from the fields to report. Rain hits the tin roof loudly during the monsoon, making it hard to hear anyone on the phone. We’ve grown used to it though. It’s just how things are at this address. We focus on the daily tasks of running the estate and keeping things in order without much fuss.
