Kakodonga Tea Producer Company Limited

We are over in Village Birinasayek, which is part of the Titabor subdivision in Jorhat. Kakodonga Tea Producer Company Limited is what we call ourselves. The name comes from the river nearby. Our lives revolve around the tea plants and the cycles of the seasons. Being in Titabor, we are surrounded by greenery. Our office is just a simple place in the village where we keep our records and meet up. Most of the people involved are locals who have been planting tea for years. We aren't a big corporation with fancy ideas. We just want to grow good tea and make sure the growers get a fair deal. It takes a lot of coordination to get the leaves picked and moved quickly. If we wait too long, the quality drops. So, there is a lot of rushing around during the peak season. In the winter, things get a bit quieter, and we spend time pruning and getting ready for the next year. It’s a repetitive kind of work, but there is a rhythm to it that we like. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. People know who we are by seeing us out in the fields every day. We’re just regular folks from Birinasayek trying to keep the tea tradition going in our small corner of the world. It is hard work, but it is what we do.
