Db Rice Mill

You can find us in Gultuli village, right next to the Shankar Dev School. Being so close to the school means we hear the kids playing and the bells ringing all day long. It's a nice sound to have in the background while we work. The mill itself is a busy place, especially when the farmers bring in their paddy after the harvest. It gets quite dusty, which is just part of the job when you’re milling rice. We have been here for a good few years now, and the building has seen better days, but it still does what it needs to do. Most of the work is done by hand, from lifting the heavy bags to checking the grain as it comes out. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Usually, we just sit on the porch or inside the main shed to talk to customers. The machinery needs a lot of looking after, so there is always someone with a wrench trying to keep things running. It’s a simple life here in the village. We know everyone’s name, and they know us. Sometimes when the school finishes for the day, the road gets crowded with cycles and parents, so we have to be careful with the trucks. It’s just a regular local business trying to do things the right way. We don't mind the hard work as long as the machines keep turning.
