Bandhai Foundation

The Bandhai Foundation is based out of Biren Bezborah’s place in Gojpuria Gaon. That is near Titabor in the Jorhat district. It is a proper village setting, surrounded by the kind of life you expect in rural Assam. We don’t have a corporate office with glass walls. Instead, we meet under the porch or in the main room of the house. Most of us here in Gojpuria Gaontitabar are just regular folks who wanted to start something to keep the community tight. We call it "Bandhai" because it’s about binding things together, like our traditions and the way we help each other out during the harvest or when someone is sick. We spend a lot of time just listening to the elders and seeing what the younger kids need for their schooling. It’s a slow process and we don’t rush anything. Sometimes we sit around for hours just talking about how to fix a local road or organize a small event for the village. Being at Biren’s house means people feel comfortable just walking in without an appointment. We might be busy with some paperwork, but there is always time for a quick chat. It’s not fancy, and some of our files are kept in old wooden cupboards, but it works for us. We are just trying to be useful to our neighbors here in Titabor without making things complicated.
