Thakur Jaswant Singh Memorial Foundation

We are over here at Gayatri Vihar in Ratanada. The Thakur Jaswant Singh Memorial Foundation is run from Dhanla House, right by Bhaskar Chouraha. Aruna Kumari handles things here. It's not a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a place where we get together to handle the work that needs doing in memory of Thakur Jaswant Singh. Most days you’ll find someone sitting at the old wooden desk sorting through papers or talking to folks who drop by from the neighborhood. Ratanada is a busy part of town, so there is always noise from the street coming in through the windows. We don't have a lot of staff, mostly just a few of us who care about the local area. We’ve been here for a bit now, just trying to be useful where we can. Sometimes the tea runs out and we have to send someone down to the corner shop. It’s a very normal setup. We don't use big words or have fancy meetings. If someone needs help or wants to talk about a project, they usually just knock on the door. The fan makes a bit of a clicking sound in the summer heat, but we get used to it. We keep the files in some old metal cabinets. It’s a practical space. We don't spend money on decor because that’s not what we are about. We just keep things moving one day at a time. No one here is an expert, we just do our best.
