Small World Jodhpur

Our workshop is out in Basni 2nd Phase, specifically at F-247 on 7th Road. If you know Jodhpur, you know that Basni is where a lot of the real work gets done. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not exactly pretty, but it’s where we belong. Small World is the name we use, and we try to live up to it by being a small, tight-knit group. The sun can be really intense out here, so we keep the shutters down during the hottest parts of the day. We spend our hours surrounded by patterns and textiles. Most of us have been working with fabric for a long time, so we don't need much instruction anymore. We just know what needs to happen when a new roll of cloth arrives. There’s no fancy marketing team here, just people who know how to use a pair of shears and a sewing machine. Sometimes we have to deal with sand blowing in from the road, which is just part of living in this part of the country. We keep things clean as best as we can. It’s a straightforward business. We make things, we pack them, and we send them out. It’s repetitive, but there is something nice about seeing a finished piece of clothing at the end of a long day. We’re just a small part of the big industrial phase here.
