Shrinath General Store

Being located right opposite the Diesel Shed in Basni means we see a lot of workers and local residents every single day. Shrinath General Store is right there on the Main Road in Jodhpur. It has been here for a good number of years. We try to keep a bit of everything, ranging from notebooks and pens for school kids to pulses and tea leaves for the kitchen. The Jodhpur sun is very strong, so the front of the store gets a lot of bright light throughout the afternoon. We have a small wooden bench outside where people sometimes sit for a minute to rest. The shelves are made of old wood and they are a bit worn out, but they hold up the weight just fine. We don’t really use computers for our billing, just a basic calculator and a blue ink pen. It works fine for what we need. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when many people come in at once during the lunch hour or after the shifts end. We try our best to keep up with the demand for daily staples. My son helps me out in the evenings after he finishes his work. We sell a lot of small snacks and tobacco items too. The dust from the road is a constant battle for us, so we wipe things down whenever we get a free minute. It is just a basic shop for basic needs. We don't have everything in the world, but we have enough for a typical home. That's just how we operate.
