Shahin General & Fancy Store

Shahin General & Fancy Store is tucked away in Laxman Nagar C on Mandore Road. We have been here for a good few years now. It’s called a fancy store because we keep things like bangles, hair clips, and small gifts, not just the usual grocery stuff. It’s nice to see the colors on the walls when the sun hits the glass cases. Most of our customers are women from the nearby houses who need something small for their kids or for a wedding. Jodhpur can be a dusty place, so we have to clean the glass cases every morning or you can't see the jewelry inside properly. My daughter helps me arrange the new items when they come in from the market once a week. We are not a big supermarket, just a local shop where you can find a bit of everything if you look. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions or to see what’s new in the boxes. I spend a lot of time on my stool behind the counter. The days go by fast when there are a lot of people talking. When it is quiet, I just sit and look out at the road. We have everything from sewing thread to school notebooks for the local students. It is a bit cramped inside, but we know where everything is. We don't try to be fancy despite the name, we just sell what people ask for.
