Our place, Shah Manmal Bhikamchand Surana, is situated at C-36, right behind the New Power House. Being near the power house means there is always a bit of a hum in the background, but we have gotten used to it over the years. This business has a lot of history to it. You can see it in the way the office is set up, with the heavy wooden desks and the stacks of ledgers that we still keep. We don’t go for all the modern office gadgets unless we absolutely have to. Most of the time, we are just busy keeping track of our inventory and talking to folks who have been doing business with us for a long time. The street outside can get a bit dusty, especially in the afternoons. We have a small crew here, and most of us have been around for years, so we know each other's habits pretty well. It’s a steady kind of life. We open up early and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. There isn't anything fancy about C-36. It’s a solid building that holds everything we need to keep things running. We deal with people face-to-face a lot, which we prefer over just sending emails. It feels more honest that way. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, day in and day out, in our little corner behind the power house.
