Ag Metals

Our workshop is out in Jodhpur, specifically at J-1/33 in the Minni Growth Centre, which is part of the first phase in Sangaria. It’s a dusty place, like most of this industrial area, especially when the wind picks up. We work with metal all day long. You’ll hear the sound of cutting and hammering from the moment we open up in the morning. We’ve got piles of scrap metal and finished sheets lying around the floor. It’s hot work, particularly in the Rajasthani summer when the sun hits the workshop walls. We don’t wear suits or sit in air-conditioned offices. We’re usually covered in a bit of grease or metal dust by the time lunch rolls around. We’ve been in this spot for several years now and we know most of the guys in the other units around the growth centre. We just focus on the orders we have. There isn’t a lot of talk about missions or visions here. We just look at the specs, grab the tools, and get to work. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend half the day fixing it ourselves. It’s just the way it goes. We take a break for tea when the sun is at its highest and then get back to it until it’s time to lock up. It’s a basic life, working with our hands.
