Ratanada X Ray Clinic

You can find our X-ray clinic right near the Ratanada Circle, just by Vishnu Traders. It’s a small place, mostly taken up by the big X-ray machine and the darkroom where we develop the films. The machine makes a loud humming sound when it is warming up, and the whole place has that slight smell of chemicals from the developer. We have been at this location for a good number of years. The waiting area is just a small bench in the corner, and it can get a bit crowded if more than three people show up at once. We spend our day positioning people against the plates and then going into the back to see how the images turned out. It’s a bit of a repetitive job, but it’s important. We don’t have fancy digital screens everywhere. Most of our reports are still handed over in those big brown envelopes. The floor is grey stone and stays relatively cool even in the summer. We know the shopkeepers around the circle and often go out to grab a tea when there’s a gap between patients. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place. We don’t do a lot of talking unless it’s to tell someone to hold their breath for the picture. It’s just a regular part of the neighborhood where people come when their doctor tells them they need a scan. We do our work, give them their films, and that’s about it.
