Out on Pal Road in Jodhpur, specifically at number 189 in Arihant Nagar, is where we handle all our stone and marble. R K Marble Group has been part of this dusty landscape for a long time now. It is heavy work, moving these big slabs around every day. We do not wear suits here; we are usually in old clothes that can handle the stone dust and the water spray. The yard is full of different colors of marble and granite, mostly from around Rajasthan. It is a loud place when the saws are running, and you cannot really hear yourself talk very well. We spend our time checking for cracks or making sure the polishing is done right on the edges. Some days it is just me and the workers trying to load a heavy truck while the sun is scorching hot. We do not have a fancy reception area with air conditioning. If someone wants to see the stone, they just walk out into the yard with us and look at the slabs in the light. It is a very hands-on kind of business. We have seen a lot of houses in Jodhpur get built using the materials we have here. It is just honest labor and dealing with the natural materials we have in this part of the country. We keep the gate open for anyone who needs stone.
