M. S. Laxmi Stone Cutting

Down on Mogreya Road in Pipar City, things get pretty dusty. That is where we run M. S. Laxmi Stone Cutting. It’s loud work because of the machines, but we’re used to it by now. The stone comes in big blocks and we spend the day cutting them down. It’s heavy work and your hands get rough after a few years. We don’t have a fancy office. It’s mostly just the yard and the shed where the saws are. People from around the area come by when they need stone for a project. No advertising happens here. Usually, someone just tells a friend about us. Pipar City is a decent place to work, even if it gets hot in the afternoons. Getting the bulk of the heavy lifting done before the sun gets too high is the plan. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to figure out how to fix it ourselves. It’s part of the job. Water gets everywhere when we’re cutting, so the ground is always a bit muddy. Our small crew knows what needs to be done without talking much. Breaks are taken in the shade when possible. It’s simple, honest work. There’s a certain feeling of finishing a pile of stone and seeing it ready to go. This spot on the road has been our home for a long time and we plan to stay right here.
