New Look Photo Palace

New Look Photo Palace is situated on Paota C Road, right behind the radio station. It’s a funny location because people often use the radio station as a landmark to find us. We have been here for a while, taking photos and helping people with their pictures. The studio is a bit old-fashioned, with the big backdrops and the heavy lights that take a minute to warm up. We spend a lot of time sitting at the computer editing shots or just waiting for customers to walk in from the street. Paota C Road is usually quite busy, so there is plenty to see out the window. We do all sorts of photography, from the quick passport snaps to people coming in dressed up for a special occasion. Sometimes the printer acts up and we have to spend an hour cleaning the heads, which is just part of the job. We have a few old cameras on display that don't work anymore, but they look nice on the shelf. It’s a small operation, mostly just us handling everything from the clicking of the camera to the final print in the envelope. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything; people mostly find us by word of mouth or by just seeing our sign while they are driving past the station. It is a simple life and we enjoy the work we do every day.
