Hameed

The shop, Hameed, is tucked away in the middle of Nai Sadak. Specifically, we are at 5-C Teliyon Ka Madarsa, inside the Aysha Manjil lane. It is one of those very busy and narrow streets where you really have to watch where you are walking because of all the scooters and people pushing carts. I have spent most of my life working around this area. The building isn’t new at all, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We don’t have a big glowing sign or anything fancy to show where we are. Most of our customers find us because they live in the neighborhood or a friend told them which turn to take. Inside the shop, it is mostly just shelves and things we have collected over the years. It gets a bit dark in the back, so we have a couple of extra light bulbs hanging from the ceiling on long wires. Usually, there is some hot tea being shared and a lot of talking going on between customers. It is the kind of place where neighbors stop by just to say hello even if they don't need to buy anything that day. We open the doors early and we stay until the street finally gets quiet at night. Sometimes the electricity flickers out, but we just keep going. It is a very simple setup with a lot of old things kept in these walls.
