Amit Textiles

Amit Textiles is over at F-544 in M.I.A. Basni Phase II, Jodhpur. Being in the textile business in this part of Rajasthan means dealing with a lot of heat and a lot of dust, but we are used to it by now. The unit is a decent size, enough to hold all our looms and the big rolls of fabric that come in and out. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just making sure the quality of the cloth is decent enough for our customers. Most of the time, the floor is covered in lint and scrap pieces of thread. It’s a messy business, but that’s how you know work is getting done. We have a small crew of people who have been with us for a long time. They know how to handle the machines better than anyone. We don't have a corporate office in a skyscraper; our office is a small room with a cooler and a few chairs for when people come to talk about orders. Sometimes the supply of yarn is late, or the power fluctuates, but we just manage it as it comes. We aren't trying to be the biggest textile mill in the country, just a reliable one here in Basni. It’s about the daily grind, checking the dye, and making sure the trucks are loaded right before they head out.
