Marginalized Community Developmentfoundation

We operate out of Village Jodhpur, right in the care of Hakiman Akbar. This is in the Ubhaka post area of the Pahari Tehsil. It is a very rural setting, quite far from the noise and the rush of the big cities. The Marginalized Community Developmentfoundation is based in a very simple building that is just part of the regular village landscape. We do not have paved parking lots or heavy glass doors. Instead, we have a simple path and a sturdy door. Most of our work happens right here in the village or in the nearby settlements. People know exactly where to find us because everyone around here knows Hakiman Akbar’s place. We spend a lot of our time sitting with people under the shade of the trees or inside the main room when the sun is too hot. There is not a lot of fancy equipment around—just the essentials we need to keep our records and handle the paperwork. Sometimes the power goes out for a few hours in the afternoon, so we just wait it out or do what we can by hand with a pen and paper. It is a slow-paced environment, but the work we have to do is constant. We do not have formal office hours like they do in the big Jaipur offices; we are usually just around when someone needs us. It is a community-based setup where the lines between work and life are thin.
