Asha Plastics is over in Dhan Mandi, quite close to the Ramdev Temple in Mahamandir. You can usually hear the morning prayers and temple bells from where we sit. Our shop is full of plastic items like buckets, tubs, and containers of all different sizes. They are stacked pretty high, so the place looks a bit like a colorful cave. It gets very busy in the mandi, especially on market days. We've been running this place for a good while now. The building is old and the floor is a little cracked, but it works for what we need. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that work hard during the summer months. Most of our customers are folks from the neighborhood who need something for their house. We spend a lot of time chatting with them. It’s not just about selling a bucket; it’s about knowing people. Sometimes the cows from the street wander near the entrance, and we have to shoo them away. We don't use any fancy technology here. We just have our ledgers and a calculator. It’s a straightforward life. We open early and close when the sun goes down. There isn't much more to it than that. We just keep the shop stocked and wait for the regulars to stop by for what they need. It's a steady way to make a living in this part of town.
