The office is right by Sojati Gate, which means it is always loud and crowded outside. Beria Mohalla is one of those places where you really feel the heart of Jodhpur, for better or worse. We have been operating from this spot outside the gate for quite some time now, and we have grown used to the constant honking and the smell of street food from nearby stalls. Inside, things are a bit more organized, though there are always stacks of documents that seem to grow on their own. It is a simple space with a few desks and some cupboards that are getting a bit old. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights out front because everyone around here already knows where we are. Usually, the day starts with opening up the heavy shutters and letting some air in before the heat gets too bad. Clients walk in from the street, often looking a bit tired from the Jodhpur sun, and we just find them a chair and get to work. There is no receptionist or waiting room with magazines, just a bench and some water if you are thirsty. Most of our time is spent looking at numbers or talking through things over a quick cup of tea brought in from the corner shop. It is a busy life here at the gate, but it is what we know. We stay until the market starts to quiet down in the late evening and then we finally close up.
