Our place is at Plot Number 16 in Transport Nagar. It is right in the heart of the Gandhi Motor Market, just opposite the SBI bank. If you go behind Paali Dhabe, you will see our sign. Being in Transport Nagar means we are surrounded by everything related to trucks and heavy vehicles. The air always smells like diesel and burnt rubber, which I guess is just the smell of work to us. Kanwatiya Motor Agency is where we spend almost all our waking hours. It’s a rugged environment. We deal with heavy parts and big engines that require a lot of muscle to move around. The market is always loud with the sounds of hammers hitting metal and air compressors running. We get a lot of drivers coming in who have been on the road for days. They usually want things fixed fast so they can get back to their routes. We do our best to accommodate that. Sometimes we grab a quick lunch from the dhaba nearby while we wait for a part to be delivered. The SBI bank across the way is always busy, so there is a constant flow of people moving through the market. It’s not a quiet or clean job, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we like. We’ve known the other shop owners around here for years, so it feels like a small community in the middle of all the grease and noise of the transport market.
