We are located at Matra Karpa, specifically at 60-A on Loco Road in the Ratanada area of Jodhpur. Being near the railway tracks means we hear the trains passing by at all hours, which is something we have just grown used to over time. The workshop is a large, open space that helps keep us a bit cooler during the intense summer heat, though the desert sun still finds its way in. We have piles of wood and metal scraps scattered around the floor because we are always in the middle of making something. It is a dusty place, and our clothes are usually covered in sawdust by the end of the afternoon. We are a family-run operation and we do not have a fancy showroom with lights and air conditioning. If someone wants to see our work, they just come into the back where the hammering and sanding happens. We eat our lunch together in a small corner of the shop, usually talking about what needs to be finished by the end of the week. The wind often blows sand in through the doors, so we are constantly sweeping the floors. It is hard physical work, but it is what we know how to do. We do not use any complicated marketing or big words. We just focus on the pieces we are building and try to stay busy enough to keep the shop running.
