Jai Vishwa Exports

Our place, Jai Vishwa Exports, is out in the M.I.A. area of Basni at E-638. This is the second phase of the industrial area, so it’s mostly big buildings and trucks moving in and out. The heat in Jodhpur can be really something in the summer, and the warehouse gets quite warm. We have a few big fans going, but they mostly just move the hot air around. We spend our time checking on the items we send out and making sure the crates are sturdy enough for the long trips. The office part is just a small corner with a couple of wooden desks and some old files stacked in the cupboards. You can see the dust settling on the windowsills every day because of the dry wind blowing through the industrial zone. It isn’t a place for visitors to come and look at pretty things, it’s where we pack and move stuff. The floor is hard concrete and shows the marks of all the heavy boxes we’ve dragged across it over the months. We usually start early before the sun gets too high. By the time the afternoon rolls around, everyone is looking forward to heading home. The road outside is bumpy, but it gets the trucks where they need to go. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and we know all the drivers who come through. It is just how it goes here.
